Welcome to the first message on our Functional Pathways Personal Growth Blog. We will focus on one book each month to stimulate ideas on how to better manage our business and lead our people. Change surrounds us in our industry right now and our people are looking to us for answers and leadership. They need strong leaders to help navigate through all the changes in our industry right now. Companies like Functional Pathways have to continue to reinvent ourselves to compete or to even survive. I believe we have the most talented employees in the industry and if we can put our collective brain power together, we can build a company like no other. This book club/personal growth blog is one forum we will use to share ideas.
I'd like to start with an easy read for our first book. It's Who Moved My Cheese. I am sure many of you have read this book in the past but I think it is very relevant today. I have read it in the past but believe it is a good time to get reacquainted with this simple but powerful read.
Please feel free to blog any ideas and comments you have as you read this book. I am going to start reading tonight and begin blogging. Please keep your blogs professional. There will be no blog "police". I am going to trust everyone to really think about what they are blogging before your blog goes out to the whole world.
Who Moved My Cheese?
ReplyDeleteI read this book years ago and found it applicable to my life at that time. I just read it again and the message still applies. This is such an easy read with powerful messages. Which character do you relate to the most? Do you find yourself in all of the characters? If so, in what ways and how do you overcome being the character(s) you don't want to be? Looking forward to the discussion. Gina
Who Moved My Cheese has been a cornerstone of continued growth for me. This book has inspired me to look forward and continue to achieve goals for personal as well as professional growth. It is interesting how sometimes you need to step away from your comfort area and venture out into the "maze" to encounter new avenues and provide self encouragement to grow. I have learned that being out in the maze also can change your perspective on things and allows you to see things in a new and refreshing way. It can guide you on a path to where you will find fulfillment in life. Sometimes you may be surprised at what you may learn about yourself while traveling the maze. I first read this book in a college course, yet I refer back to some of the passages periodically to encourage myself in many ways. There is also a website that provides additional motivational tools that will help remind you to "keep searching for the cheese" and continue to be the best that you can be!! http://www.whomovedmycheese.com/index.html
